A Kiss To Build a Dream On

Today I decided to walk down to the Enchanted Florist because I heard they had some bunches of lavender and I wanted to fill our apartment with that lovely scent because it's one of my absolute favorites (plus I want to do a watercolor study of it tomorrow). Luckily they had 4 bunches left!

Head scarf, belt and skirt from Laura's Vintage
Top from DollMeUpDarling
Shoes from TJMaxx

It was such a great day today weather wise that I couldn't let myself pass it up and hurriedly got dressed and headed out! Pearl got way more smiles and compliments than I did, which is as it should be. She's darn cute!

The Enchanted Florist is located on Columbia street just off Pearl street and it has the most beautiful store front ever.

While trying to take a photo of my bunches of lavender with Pearl while sitting on a bench in Tricentennial Park, I accidentally got my skirt completely wet from my flowers. So, I had to sit there for a bit to dry off and Pearl really enjoyed the view!

I eventually got a good photo with both Pearl and the lavender even though she much preferred to people watch than look at me.

Now I'm back at home with the windows and back door open to let the nice breeze air out the apartment.

My Oklahoma Trip!

Some of you might know that I went to Oklahoma to visit my mother last month around the time of my birthday. I met with a ton of my friends and family but sadly didn't meet up with everyone that I wanted because of limited time.

My main activities were shopping and eating. I honestly didn't do anything else. Haha.

I bought all my vintage from Cheap Thrills (my absolute favourite vintage shop in Tulsa) and  the shoes were from Ross Dress for Less (I wish there was a Ross in Upstate New York). And my mom gave me the Silvertone radio and Starline suitcase!

I also bought some embroidery patterns and supplies from Owl&Drum.

Not to mention, I celebrated my 28th birthday while there and my chinese food takeout wished me a Happy Birthday.

Sorry I haven't updated with a recent outfit post in a while. It's been terribly cold and I've been a baby about taking photos outdoors! But, I'll post more regularly soon.

Happy 7th Birthday, Pearl!

Pearl is seven years old today, which is pretty apt since it's National Spoil Your Dog Day!

We decided to have lunch with my husband, then afterwards I brought her to Petsmart (the only pet supply store around where my hubby works) to get her a couple of birthday presents.

Here she is in her birthday hat that I made just for her. Lol!

I bought her two presents, one-a Kong toy that she immediately loved and two-a Martha Stewart Pets bunny. I especially got the Kong Marathon toy because she tends to eat chew toys whole when she should just slobber on it until it's gone. This seems to be working wonders and I love that I can get refills for it. She's currently chewing and slobbering all over it. I think this will be her new chew toy we set out when we go out without her!

I had plans to go out on a picnic blanket and read while she frolics outside, but it's simply too hot. She's enjoying her new Kong toy anyway! Haha

Introductions

I have been unduly stressing over what to write about in my first post. What is to be essentially a documentary of my life, I find it a bit scary to put it all out there for judgment.

First and foremost, I'm a graphic designer. I design things for fun, for people, for friends. I even have a degree saying I'm qualified for the work! I photograph things. Some might say I'm a bit trigger happy, and I make some money taking pictures of vacation rentals, weddings, and other fun things (like my schnauzer, but I don't get paid for that unfortunately).

This little endeavor will show the progress of my fashion sense, life and career. My fashion sense has changed drastically from high school to college to post marriage. From the constant jeans and t-shirt wearing high schooler to the dress and funky tights wearing college student to the full on vintage glam wife, my style seems to be constantly changing. Right now I'm loving the 1940s-50s era in dressing, hair and makeup. But I used to always straighten my hair every day and wear flared jeans with graphic t-shirts until I finally decided that having my own style would be something I could strive for. And the 40s-50s vintage glamour really appealed to me in a way that it made me feel beautiful (which wasn't something I ever felt growing up).

Like my other social media, my schnauzer, Pearl, will make quite a few appearances. She's basically the princess of my life and is spoiled to no end (as it should be). We (my husband and I) adopted her when she was 4 years old and now she's turning 7 in four days!

And yes, we'll buy her presents and a special doggie treat for her birthday. We'll probably go to the park and have a picnic and all sorts of doggie shenanigans.

This diary will be full of vintage clothing, my husband, my Pearl girl, a few weddings/photoshoots I'm proud of photographing, and other tid bits of knowledge a fashionista would love to hear about (not to mention great places to shop).
