Polka Dots!

The other day, I wore my favorite dress I've gotten from Laura's Vintage. My mom bought it for me while she was here visiting this summer and it's all my I Love Lucy dreams come true.

I wore it to the vet for my miniature schnauzer Pearl's annual exam (it went well, free of parasites and her seizure med levels are good!). And then, I went to Panera with my husband for lunch afterwards. It was such a nice day--70s!

I love how this dress plays peek-a-boo with my back tattoo.

Only Photograph What You Love

Yesterday I took a long walk down to the Empire State Plaza and it was warmer than I thought it was going to be! I ended up having to take a quick cold shower when I arrived home to cool down and wash away all the sweat. Ick!

I ended up taking my new-to-me Yashica Mat LM twin lens camera with me to get a few snapshots. I feel like I ended up overexposing most of them... but we'll see when I get them developed.
I definitely got quite a few double takes walking down to the Plaza. It's not really everyday that someone dresses like they're straight out of the 1950s here.

I'll make sure to post whatever photos come out well that I took on my long walk! Hopefully at least one comes out alright.

A Walk to the Flea Market

Today was the opening day for the new Troy Flea Market and we went to check it out and I'm so glad we did! There were a handful of merchants there and I wanted to buy so many things.

My gorgeous husband indulged me in letting me snap a photo of him.

There were quite a few booths with vintage clothing and vintage housewares.

This is Metropolis Vintage's booth and I ended up snapping up a scarf and two 1950s dresses.
Such great prices that I only spent $33 for all of that! I'm glad I brought my measuring tape to make sure the dresses would fit. Also, if you spend more than $25, you can use your card.

Purse from TJMaxx
Shoes from Steve Madden

I've been wearing these tops from Doll Me Up Darling so often because it's been so hot lately here in Upstate New York! And putting up my hair in a bun and throwing a scarf over it helps keep my hair off my neck while not having to sleek back my hair with a thousand bobby pins. Once it cools down here, I promise I'll have more variety in my outfits!

A Kiss To Build a Dream On

Today I decided to walk down to the Enchanted Florist because I heard they had some bunches of lavender and I wanted to fill our apartment with that lovely scent because it's one of my absolute favorites (plus I want to do a watercolor study of it tomorrow). Luckily they had 4 bunches left!

It was such a great day today weather wise that I couldn't let myself pass it up and hurriedly got dressed and headed out! Pearl got way more smiles and compliments than I did, which is as it should be. She's darn cute!

The Enchanted Florist is located on Columbia street just off Pearl street and it has the most beautiful store front ever.

While trying to take a photo of my bunches of lavender with Pearl while sitting on a bench in Tricentennial Park, I accidentally got my skirt completely wet from my flowers. So, I had to sit there for a bit to dry off and Pearl really enjoyed the view!

I eventually got a good photo with both Pearl and the lavender even though she much preferred to people watch than look at me.

Now I'm back at home with the windows and back door open to let the nice breeze air out the apartment.

Get the Look!

If you want to get the look from my previous post, here's an easy vintage reproduction way of doing that without breaking bank!

1-Vixen Vondetta Top in White from DollMeUpInc for $19.99
2-Hell Bunny Red High Waist Capris from Unique Vintage for $48
3-Small woven straw beach tote from Amazon for $15.99
4-Hey Viv! Red Chiffon Scarf from Amazon for $5.99
5-Gold Stretch 50s style belt from Amazon for $9.50

Just throw your hair into a top knot and tie a scarf around it and you'll basically have my outfit from Saturday! If you do want some 50s style cigarette pants like I wore instead, you could always troll Etsy for some in your size like I did. And then, you can add the rest of the outfit and get mine almost exactly.

Back In Your Own Backyard

Or park! My husband and I decided to go to the dog park at Washington Square Park today after taking our miniature schnauzer, Pearl, to the vet this morning for her annual checkup.

It was quite hot and humid and Pearl didn't even pay any attention to the other dogs because she was so miserable. So, we decided to head home and chill out in the A/C. But not before we took a few photos of my outfit for today!

Top from Doll Me Up Darling
Purse from flea market at Aunt Katie's Attic
Sunglasses from Fossil
Earring made from Princess Phone keychains
And finally, the infamous tartan pants are from LeBunnyShoppe on Etsy!

It's been quite a while since I've updated because of just being busy and not thinking to photograph my outfits! I'll try to be better at that from now on.

My Oklahoma Trip!

Some of you might know that I went to Oklahoma to visit my mother last month around the time of my birthday. I met with a ton of my friends and family but sadly didn't meet up with everyone that I wanted because of limited time.

My main activities were shopping and eating. I honestly didn't do anything else. Haha.

I bought all my vintage from Cheap Thrills (my absolute favourite vintage shop in Tulsa) and  the shoes were from Ross Dress for Less (I wish there was a Ross in Upstate New York). And my mom gave me the Silvertone radio and Starline suitcase!

I also bought some embroidery patterns and supplies from Owl&Drum.

Not to mention, I celebrated my 28th birthday while there and my chinese food takeout wished me a Happy Birthday.

Sorry I haven't updated with a recent outfit post in a while. It's been terribly cold and I've been a baby about taking photos outdoors! But, I'll post more regularly soon.

Younger than Springtime.

Today, my husband and I helped at my in-law's church for Lemonade on the Lawn after service as a favor to my mother-in-law since she's up in Maine at the moment. It gave me the opportunity to wear my favourite sheer 1950s dress!

The coral colour really reminds me of the decade and pairing it with light accessories is essential. I went with the nude shoes because I felt black would just make everything look too heavy.

Love how my tattoo looks through it!

I love the rhinestone buttons and it's so great that they're nice and clear instead of how old rhinestones sometimes get cloudy with age.

Pearl didn't seem too enthused to be in my outfit photos. Ha, she had a pretty rough morning because of her separation anxiety of not getting to go into church with us. But she was an honorary guest at Lemonade on the Lawn in her bag!
